Get Fit With Mahi And Luwam- Ethiopia Edition

There is something so powerful about believing in God and waiting for him to align things for you. Had you asked me two years ago if this would be my life today, I would have said: “I Wish but heck no.”

Who would have ever imagined that I’d walk away from a secure and excellent paying government job with amazing benefits to follow my dreams?! I’m a firm believer in understanding the fact that everything happens for a reason.This month training at Tilla- a top rated fitness and spa facility in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia has shown me even more that changing my career path and following my dreams was the best decision I ever made. Days spent at Tilla never felt like work and seeing our clients improve their form and balance skills, plus telling us that they feel great after every class (apart from the soreness LOL) made my heart so happy!

As previous “Get Fit with Mahi and Luwam” boot camps went, we focused on the four fundamental movements for exercises: planks, push-ups, squats, and lunges. Teaching the proper form and ensuring that our clients are safe is the most essential aspect of our training. We also focused on HIIT (high-intensity interval training) and created stations mixed with upper/lower body strength and cardio movements.

Being able to share our experience to teach clients the importance of stretching before and after workouts, nutrition and eating balanced meals was the highlight of our boot camp. We brought a fresh take on boot camps in Addis Ababa, by providing our clients a chance to push their fitness skills while also learning how each movement affects their body. Our class was intended for everyone, and we emphasized the fact that anyone could accomplish their fitness goals as long as they were dedicated and consistent.

Teaching at Tilla was an honor and an experience I’ll never forget. They provided amazing customer service, clean and updated equipment, and the atmosphere always had us staying long hours without even realizing the time. The food is healthy and beyond delicious, and all their juices are freshly made onsite. Our clients that were non-members of the gym were able to experience the sauna and steam room before and after each class, which brought plenty of new faces to the gym.

For anyone traveling to Addis Ababa or for my readers that live in the city, I strongly recommend you to check them out; I love the spa and café… you won’t be disappointed.

To everyone that joined our classes, whether it was one class or the entire program, to all the staff at Tilla, to Simoné, and everyone else that supported us from near and afar, Mahi and I would like to say THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Teaching at Tilla and sharing our passions with everyone was truly a dream come true.
