Checking In On Those New Year Goals

I consider January a test run; you know the practice month we all get for the New Year.

With that said, 2018 is officially underway, and I am sure you guys are well into your New Year resolutions or goals. Personally, I have always liked creating new goals for myself every year instead of resolutions. I feel like they are more long lasting and allow me to dig deep and see where I need to make changes in my life. Resolutions are also easier to break which leave most people feeling discouraged whereas goals are a part of life.

This year started off slow for me; we came back from vacation the first week of January. I was really out of it and just not my usual self. One thing led to another and before I knew it, the second and third week of January had rolled by before I sat down, looked at last years goals and really thought about what I wanted to improve on. The first questions that came to mind were- What do I need to do to improve? What part of my life is slipping and needs attention? Am I really willing to give more time to achieve any of my new goals? Do I have more time?

Last year was all about becoming financially free, losing the baby weight/becoming fit again and falling back in love with Bini. The best part about last year though was creating Luwamé and the people it led me too.

In helping others, I found what I am most passionate about and what my calling is. I don’t know if anything I do this year can ever beat that, but I want to try at least.

So, in my attempts to gain clarity, I'm adding a sneak peak of what I’ll be focusing on this year:

1. Marriage/Family- Bini and I often bump heads because I’m a control freak that likes to have things done my way and he wants to lead our family in a different direction. I need to learn to be okay with that. Let him lead the way and trust that he will take us on the right path. I can’t always have the path I want for everyone. Sometimes they have to choose their own path.

2. Blog — More collaborations, slicker look, growth! Luwame has changed my life in so many ways, and this year I want to focus on growing it even more. Create and host monthly events, post workout videos and different meal plans for the monthly challenges and work on getting more visibility traffic on the site.

3. Career — I want to take a little time every day to build myself up-strategize business plans, write my book, get certified in a fitness program.

Goals are meant to lead you on a better path. Whether you are on track with your goals or feel like you need a little boost of motivation is perfectly fine. Just like in last week’s post - Getting back to your Workout Routine after Vacation, the idea here is to not give up or feel defeated. The more we continue to work on ourselves and our goals the better we will become. This goes for all aspects of your life from healthy living to relationship to careers and family life.

I hope this helps you or someone you know in some way. As always, I’d love to hear from you in our comments section. Tell me how are you keeping up with your goals? Are you on the right track?

Yours,
